FAQ

What if I’m 6 months postnatal?

Whether you are 6 weeks, 6 months or in fact a few years postnatal you may not have had the support and confidence to yet return to exercise. Congratulations! You have just taken the first step towards feeling stronger and getting back to all the things you loved doing before your bubba or mini tribe were born! If you are earlier than 6 weeks postnatal please contact us to have a chat about safe return to exercise and a start date.

Can I bring my baby to class?

We understand how tricky it is to find some ‘me-time’ in between feeding, expressing and well, washing! And while we have space to accommodate some prams and contained baby’s in class please remember you will be responsible for your little ones – but we will always look forward to a cuddle.

Who will take my class?

All classes are supervised by experienced Physiotherapists – experts in exercise and rehabilitation with particular expertise in assessment of pregnancy and post-natal conditions including abdominal muscle separation (DRA), pelvic girdle pain and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. They will guide your exercise class to improve your strength, mobility and function but have extra knowledge of the underlying anatomical changes specific to you and your stage pre or post natal.

How much will it cost?

Your classes may cost as little as $8 per session. An assessment with one of our physiotherapists will not only allow increased individualisation of your sessions but will qualify you for a private health insurance rebate.

Classes are $30 per session when purchases in a 5 pack (once per week) for $150, or $25 per session $25 per session when purchased in a twice weekly 10 pack for $250.

Do I need an assessment?

No, you don’t need to have an assessment prior to your first class unless you want to claim on Private Health insurance. We are keen to see all women return to exercise in a safe and supported environment. By completing our registration form we will gather some information and will question you further during your sessions. If you are in discomfort or have symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction your Physio may recommend that you have an assessment in clinic prior to the classes.

What will I learn?

Your exercise will progress weekly and you will learn modifications for safe and comfortable exercises to continue at home. Your 5 class pass includes education from your Physio to reinforce the importance of understanding your pelvic floor in preparation for birth and in recovery! Further education topics with our Pelvic Health Physio will be available and topics may include pelvic floor and continence, breastfeeding, birth positioning and for the postnatal mums discussion on progressive return to running and sport.

How are these classes different to other classes?

Small group, Physio led classes allow a unique combination of safe exercise progression, individualisation and ongoing education and support. Exercises include a mix of Clinical Pilates, strength and mobility to offer a total mind and body workout!

What do I need to do now?

Please contact our friendly reception team for more information. They will forward you an online survey to complete your class registration and book you into a class in either Olinda or Mt. Evelyn. Gear up for your first class!

What do I bring to class?

Wear some comfy exercise or active wear. No rules here! If bringing your baby please bring your pram or a bunny rug. Bring a drink bottle, towel and small pillow/cushion.

Bring your enthusiasm and energy or if baby/pregnancy have zapped that out of you drag yourself along and look forward to leaving feeling relaxed, focussed and renewed.

I’d love to join a class but I can’t make those times?

Please register your interest in joining a class so that we can keep you posted of new class times. As our classes grow we hope to increase the number of classes.
