Myotherapy and Remedial Massage is available in Olinda everyday including after hours and Saturday mornings. Remedial massage and myotherapy are important adjuncts to physiotherapy or a treatment for muscle soreness and pain in its own right.
Myotherapists undergo a rigorous three year university or equivalent course, and offer a level above even remedial massage in their approach to soft tissue pain and injury. In addition to utilising techniques such as deep tissue massage, cupping, trigger point therapy, soft tissue massage and dry needling, myotherapists are trained to identify areas of weakness and tightness in muscle groups, and are able to prescribe exercises and postural corrections to address these muscular imbalances.
Myotherapists often work with high level athletes to enhance their recovery from activity and injury, as well as members of the public who are suffering from tightness, muscle tension, stress-related muscle soreness and general soft tissue injuries.
Private health insurers recognise the additional training that myotherapists undergo relative to general and remedial massage therapists, and so award higher rebates for myotherapy treatment in most extras or ancillary benefits plans. Check with your own fund for particular rebates of course.
Our myotherapists, Alicia Christie, Sharon Trapnell and Dale Gibb, are all experienced in dealing with issues of muscular pain or soreness. Alicia and Sharon are also trained in relaxation or gentler approaches to massage, whilst Dale has a sporting and rehabilitation focus.
